House of Roh was created with a simple belief: some of the finest fabrics in the world are already being woven here, in India.

Across regions, generations of weavers have developed extraordinary textiles — each shaped by its own geography, technique, rhythm and history. Yet for men, much of this heritage has remained outside the everyday wardrobe.

House of Roh brings Indian handlooms into contemporary menswear.

We begin with the fabric — where it comes from, how it is made, and what makes it worth preserving — and shape it into clothing designed to be worn today.

ROOTED IN CRAFT

Every House of Roh piece begins with a textile.

We seek out Indian handlooms distinguished by their technique, character and provenance — from the intricate double Ikat of Puttapaka Telia Rumal to the geometry of Pochampally Ikat and the understated ease of Mangalagiri cotton.

Before a fabric becomes a shirt, it has already passed through many hands.

Yarns are prepared, tied, dyed, aligned and woven with a degree of skill that cannot be replicated by a printed surface. In many traditions, the design exists in the yarn before it ever appears on the loom.

The small variations that emerge through this process are not imperfections. They are evidence of the human hand.

They are part of what makes each piece its own.

We believe heritage does not need to remain in the past.

Indian handlooms have often been associated with ceremonial clothing, traditional silhouettes or special occasions. House of Roh approaches them differently.

We take textiles with deep histories and place them in familiar, contemporary forms — shirts that can be worn to dinner, on holiday, to work, on a weekend, or simply because you like what you are wearing.

The craft remains traditional.

The way you wear it does not have to be.

MADE FOR INDIA

For centuries, Indian textiles evolved in response to Indian weather and ways of living.

Natural fibres, breathable constructions and handwoven surfaces were never merely aesthetic choices. They were practical ones too.

That logic continues to matter.

House of Roh chooses fabrics not only for how they look, but for how they feel and live — clothing that breathes, softens with wear and belongs naturally in an Indian wardrobe.

FABRIC FIRST

At House of Roh, the textile leads the design.

We do not begin with a trend and search for a fabric to fit it.

We begin with the fabric itself — its pattern, scale, texture, fall and character — and ask what kind of garment allows it to speak best.

Some textiles call for simplicity.
Some need structure.
Some are strongest when almost nothing is added to them.

Most of the textiles we source are GI-tagged. Their geographical indication testifies to the craft, authenticity, and the significance of the weavers of that region. The colours and designs, therefore, are what the fabrics are known for.

Our design philosophy is therefore deliberately restrained.

Because when the fabric has taken this much work to create, it does not need to shout.

SMALL BATCHES. THOUGHTFULLY MADE.

Handloom is not designed for endless repetition, and neither are we.

House of Roh works in considered quantities, allowing us to choose fabrics with greater care and create pieces without reducing them to mass-produced uniformity.

A particular weave may only be available in a limited length. A colour may vary slightly between batches. A motif may never return in exactly the same way.

We see that scarcity differently.

It is part of the value of something made by hand.

We want the name of a textile to mean something.

We want you to know where your shirt comes from. To recognise a Telia Rumal. To understand why an Ikat edge looks the way it does. To know that a pattern has been woven rather than printed.

Because knowing the story behind an object changes the way we value it.

House of Roh is as much about introducing men to Indian textiles as it is about making clothes from them.
